Melissa Kahn is a principal with MJKAHN Associates, LLC, an employee benefits consulting firm. The firm provides strategic planning, policy analysis, and advocacy work on a variety of issues including retirement, long-term care, Social Security, and global employee benefits. Ms. Kahn also speaks on these issues to employers, trade associations, and financial services providers. The firm also provides meeting planning services related to public policy on employee benefits.
Prior to establishing MJKAHN Associates, LLC, Ms. Kahn was a Vice President with MetLife for 12 years. She was based in MetLife's Washington D.C. Government Relations office. She was responsible for representing the company before federal legislators and regulators on all issues relating to retirement income security, including issues affecting qualified pension plans, Social Security, and long-term care. She also provided guidance on international retirement security issues.
Prior to joining MetLife, Ms. Kahn was a principal with Retirement Strategies Group, LLC, an employee benefits consulting firm. The firm performed policy analysis, development, and advocacy work on a variety of employee benefits topics including pensions, Social Security, and flexible workforce issues for clients that included Fortune 500 companies and major employee benefits trade associations.
She founded the firm after serving for seven years as Senior Counsel of Pensions at the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI). At the ACLI, she was responsible for developing policy recommendations and lobbying strategy on employee benefits and Social Security issues.
Prior to the ACLI, Ms. Kahn was Vice President with the Equitable Life Assurance Society of America for six years, where she developed, coordinated and implemented Equitable's lobbying strategy regarding federal and state legislation on employee benefits and insurance products.
Ms. Kahn has also worked at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher and Flom, as well as the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.
Ms. Kahn holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and B.A. from Cornell University.
Ms. Kahn is a gourmet cook and is getting her yoga certification.
